Colour Mood Board Analysis

Colour Mood Board Analysis

From gathering information from my questionnaire on various different design ideas my target audience would like to see I was able to create a mood board including bright colours, neutral colours and greyscale colours. However, the results from my questionnaire showed that a magazine with bright colours on the cover would entice more buyers than a cover with darker colours would, considering this I ensured my mood board was created with mostly bright colours such as reds, blues, oranges etc. By also including other colours it will allow me to see what darker colours contrast with the brighter colours, to see if this would be an effective way to base my magazine colour theme around. A bright colour scheme would give my magazine a more friendly and happy mood, which would hopefully get the target audience’s attention and encourage them to buy the magazine. Whereas darker colours may not be as inviting and could possibly be less noticeable amongst other magazines. Due to my target audience being teenagers/young adults they are more likely to buy a magazine based on the front cover, so by having a bright and possibly contrasting colour theme this will hopefully make my magazine more successful.

Target Audience Mood Board Analysis

Target Audience Mood Board Analysis

The mood board I created for my target audience includes things such as what they would wear, where they would eat, what car they would own and what they would do in their day to day life. Due to the target audience of the magazine I’m going to create being late teens/young adults I included universities as when carrying out my research on NME and Q 29% of their readers were students, giving me the idea for my target audience. From researching NME and Q the target audience for my magazine will be interested in indie/alternative bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Oasis and many more, they will also have a strong interest in films and TV programs. The audience I’m targeting are quite young and will presumably be living at home so I included high end clothing brands as this generation are commonly associated with the brands included, such as Vivienne Westwood and Fred Perry. In their spare time they would probably attend festivals for fun but the ones that are on my mood board are V Festival, Latitude and T in the Park as these tend to not include main stream bands.

Advertiser's Mood Board Analysis

For my advertiser’s mood board I have created includes various things such as what technology companies, clothing brands, car companies, music stores and camera companies would be interested in advertising my magazine. Due to my target audience being fairly mainstream with interest in the newest music across most genres all of the companies I have put on my mood board are fairly popular and recent, this is to entice the audience. My target audience are going to be ranged from 17-25 so they are going to be up to date with the latest technology, cars and music being shown from the companies included on my mood board. My magazine will not only include detailed music reviews and information on different musicians there will also be a section dedicated to films and television with reviews and the latest releases, this is because the target audience are commonly known for spending their spare time watching TV programs and/or films on popular sites such as Netflix. As for clothing companies that would be potential advertisers for my magazine I have included popular shops such as H and M and Zara, and for branding I have put Fred Perry as these are all common among the target audience.
